POLA.

The Instant Photography

in the Digital Era.

My final college project explored three things I’m passionate about: instant photography, writing and design. I got put into my words the story and importance of instant photography from the beginning until today – when every picture is already instant.

Everything in the book was designed to resemble the most iconic instant photograph format, Edwin Land’s SX-70, from the size to the logo. The book comprised a connected timeline and summary, as well as guiding elements through the chapters. The original rainbow strip Paul Giambarba designed for Polaroid was revised and used to illustrate the cover and other details in the book: titles, image captions & pagination. A white handmade book sleeve was the final touch to make the book look like a Polaroid picture.

The 100 page book brings important historical and contemporary images about the film and camera that changed photography.
